DJ Paul on Gangsta Boo and Juicy J

One of the most legendary cliques in Hip Hop history didn’t have the greatest of endings and everyone kind of went their separate ways, but one member’s “moment of clarity” speaks volumes. Hear DJ Paul On Gangsta Boo and Not Making Music With Juicy J Anymore in a recent interview on the upcoming Dat Mafia 6ix project!

It wasn’t that long ago that the Juice-man announced his possible retirement and noted the “(THC) The Hustle Continues” may be his last album. It also wasn’t that long since we heard DJ Paul comment on the fall out of Lil’ Wayne and Birdman from his experience of what can happen to relationships in the industry. Now DJ Paul On Gangsta Boo and Not Making Music With Juicy J Anymore reveals more on why some things just aren’t meant to be.

Speaking with VladTV, DJ Paul On Gangsta Boo and Not Making Music With Juicy J Anymore says where the once-1st lady of the clique was concerned, it was all good—until they were in the same room together (yikes):

“[Gangsta Boo] she was with the group, that lasted about a month (laughs)…nah it lasted longer than a month long as long as we wasn’t around each other…the reason is if something don’t work between people vibrantly or however you want to word it, 16 years ago–16 years later it really ain’t gon’ work…Because you know everybody changed. So you know if you don’t see eye to eye when you’re in your early 20s, when you coming up on 40 some things really ain’t gonna happen! Everybody grown, motherf*ckers got kids, everybody’s life’s different. You’ll get uptight for sh*t quicker than you did back in those days.”

…that’s real talk. While he says the Dat Mafia 6ix line-up is always subject to change via “who’s in jail or not” and for that matter he’s purposely the only one contractually guaranteed to be involved in everything (damn), DJ Paul On Gangsta Boo and Not Making Music With Juicy J Anymore says don’t expect any music from him and the now highly successful producer-rapper Juicy J—who once upon a time Gangsta Boo also had issues with.

“[Juicy J] did a feature on the first one but he’s not involved in the group…we cool, we still get the money from the old company, we still do a lot of business together and we talk on that end. But nah we don’t do no music together.”

Mmm…While J might still be working with Project Pat and other regional allegiances, DJ Paul says “who knows what the future holds.” But judging from his “hearing” about J’s possible retirement from “some kid on Instagram” looks like the arms distance is real.
