As you know Laila Ali is the daughter of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. Laila however isn’t just famous because of her daddy, she’s an amazing boxer in her own right. And not only did Laila get her father’s boxing skills, she also got his confidence and bravado. So when she was asked if she could beat UFC champion Ronda Rousey, she gave a headline grabbing answer.
Muhammad Ali’s daughter — who was 24-0 in her boxing career — was at LAX this weekend when TMZ Sports asked if she thought she could hang with the MMA superstar if the two ever decided to fight.
Laila Ali said no woman can beat her, not even the undefeated UFC champion Ronda Rousey who won her last fight in 14 seconds.
At first, the 37-year-old champ was shy saying it’s hard to compare a boxer to an MMA fighter but ultimately declared, “No woman can beat me, period.”
The 5’10” Ali also pointed out her size advantage over the 5’7″ Rousey — “She’s like the size of my daughter … my 3-year-old.”
Sounds like fighting words to me.
Also in the beginning of the interview Ali was asked who her father would pick in the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquaio fight. At first she said she couldn’t speak for him but then conceded he would pick Mayweather because Floyd is the more skilled fighter.
