NYC Schools Adds Two Muslim Holidays To Calendar. This is really a great step toward peace and unity. After 9/11 Muslims around the world and in New York suffered a lot from discrimination and hate crimes.President Barack Obama has been very adamant, about separating the war on terror and the Islamic faith. He “refused to label the fight against terrorism as a war on radical Islam.” He states there is a group that has perverted the religion,However there is an overwhelming majority of Muslims that dont agree with the radicals. They dont even recognize it as Islam “they are looking for the same things as us order, peace and prosperity.”

There will be no class for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, starting next September 24. Another Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr — a festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan — will become a holiday for those in summer school starting in 2016.”This is a common-sense change,” de Blasio said Wednesday, “and one that recognizes our growing Muslim community and honors its contributions to our city.”
