Practically everyone was dying for this Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao mega fight to happen including Pacquiao’s kids.
via NYDN:
Apparently, Manny Pacquiao’s children called for his bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to happen years ago. The two superstars will finally meet in the ring on May 2 at the MGM in Las Vegas.
“My son and my daughter, they really wanted this fight to happen…Three years ago [they said] ‘Daddy, I want you to fight Mayweather,” he told CNN in an interview. “ ‘I want you to fight Mayweather.’ I said, ‘Why? It’s not my fault. He doesn’t want to fight.’ And now finally now it finally happened. They really, really want to watch the fight.”
Pacquiao seemed to understate the significance of his bout with Mayweather, refusing to call it the most substantial of his career, even though it clearly would be.
“I can say [this will be] one of the most important fights in my career,” he said. “[It] has been five years in the making…and finally it’s happening. I think the fans deserve it.”
The fight is not only one of the most important fights, it will also garner the most money. Pacquaio is expected to make over $100 million while Mayweather is expected to make well over $120 million.
