At 30-years old, LeBron James is continuing his climb up the NBA’s all-time scoring list. In the first quarter of the Cavaliers’ 101-83 blowout win over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, James scored his 24,368th and 24,269th points to overtake his childhood icon, Allen Iverson for 22nd place in the all-time rankings.
Following the game after LeBron James passes Allen Iverson on the all-time scoring list, James took to his Instagram account and noted that it was an honor to be next to someone he looked up to as a child. Iverson went on Twitter and sent congratulations to James.

James finished the game with 18 points, giving him a career total of 24,383, putting him within 122 of the next name on the list, former Heat teammate Ray Allen, who has 24,505. James is averaging 26 points per game, so he should catch Allen in the next half-dozen games. He should be on track to pass Patrick Ewing (24,815) to move into the top 20 this season. Next up after that would be Jerry West (25,192), but with only 26 games left, that’s probably unrealistic this season. It’s inevitable that he’ll keep climbing up the scoring list as his career progresses—he’s already among the all-time greats in that category.
The big question is, where will he finish? We’ll just have to wait and see.
