Bill Cosby Thanks Eddie Murphy For Refusing To Play Bill On “SNL 40,” “I am very appreciative of Eddie and I applaud his actions,” said bill. Eddie Murphy is a comedic genius but it seem like the industry has taken his laughter.It is reported that MacDonald,Canadian stand-up comedian, writer, producer and actor “tried for an hour to convince Eddie Murphy to take part in the sketch but said Murphy would not budge —even after MacDonald showered him with adulation.” They ended up doing the skit with Kenan Thompson who historically has imitated Bill Cosby. Apparently SNL invited the “Coming to America ” star to the 25th anniversary but he refused. Eddie was disappointed with the executives on the show. They created a skit where he was mentioned as a “fallen star.” This was a is a slap in his face,and as a result he hasn’t been on the show since 1984.
Bill Cosby Thanks Eddie Murphy For Refusing To Play Bill On “SNL 40,” Eddie decided to take the high road and a lot of times comedians push the envelope but Eddie decided not to kick a legend while he’s down. Bill Cosby is facing some serious allegations and as a result NBC has decided not to work with him UMASS and of host of other have cut ties with him as well.
During the “SNL 40” anniversary they payed homage to Eddie and all his contributions to the show MacDonald had this to say:
“Murphy’s comedic genius breathed life again into “SNL” during the early 80s and, according to Macdonald, it was “Eddie, the man who, in Lorne’s absence, kept the show alive. Singlehandedly…Every Saturday Night at 11:30 Eddie Murphy, a kid, would fill 90 minutes with comedy. Impossible.”
Chris Rock also payed homage many reports stated Eddie seemed meh but I think the industry took his laughter. In summary He wouldn’t take part in tearing another comedian down. Good for you Eddie
