The Jacka, real name Dominic Newton was shot and murdered in Oakland, Monday [Feb. 2] evening. Reports state that the 37-year-old was shot several times near MacArthur Boulevard by 94th Avenue in Oakland, where witnesses say they heard the shots around 8:15 p.m. No suspects have been identified.

The Jacka was a member of Mob Figaz before taking the solo route in 2001 with the album Jacka Of The Mob Figaz. Last October, he did promotion the Highway Robbery album with Philly rapper Freeway. He’d also released the solo project, What Happened To The World. He will be missed.
