Following the notorious non-indictment in the Mike Brown case which led to protests and riots in Missouri communities, Police Release Ferguson Footage Looking to Arrest Looters, hundreds of them.
Police Release Ferguson Footage Looking to Arrest Looters as business owners like that of the Lalani family owned Dellwood Market are looking to recoup what was lost during a chaotic time in St. Louis’ neighborhoods.
“My dad has had this place for 25 years,” said Jan Lalani, 33, who took over the market about a year ago. “It’s been his livelihood for a long time.” During three bouts of looting between the time Brown was shot in the summer of 2014 and November’s grand jury decision, Lalani estimates the business sustained about $300,000 in damages and losses.”
Many of the businesses that are still standing in Ferguson have took to their security surveillance videos to try and get some justice of their own. Now Police Release Ferguson Footage Looking to Arrest Looters which number at least a reported 180 people being scoped for identification. (Yikes!)
The Dellwood Market owner reportedly watched the looting of his store at home on his closed circuit surveillance connect. The video shows a scramble of young people, some in hoodies or masks and some not, moving quickly in and out of the store after failing to pull the door open, shooting and subsequently breaking glass.
“The surveillance video released by police only shows about five minutes of what happened that November night but, Lalani said, the looting started about 11 p.m. and continued until about 6 a.m. He estimates that more than 300 people ransacked the store during that time.”
St. Louis police are making more videos and still images out of everything they get. Now most of us agree like RZA said, that they didn’t have to do it like that…but it will be shame when life threatening convictions come down from Police Release Ferguson Footage Looking to Arrest Looters. Especially since the media loves nothing more than to criminalize and make looting eclipse any righteous stands of unity and resistance also happening.
Though not shown in mainstream media many residents were at businesses helping clean up whatever was still standing following the riots. The owner of Dellwood Market says he will not rebuild.
