You can often find Floyd Mayweather sitting courtside at Lakers and Clippers games whenever they play in Los Angeles and Friday night was no different as the Clippers had a big game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Well while it may seem like Mayweather is a big fan of the LA teams, he and Clippers forward Matt Barnes didn’t look friendly at all last night.
Matt Barnes is often a volatile player but on Friday night his beef reached beyond the court and onto the sidelines where the undefeated boxing champ sat, but he was unafraid.
Apparently it was Mayweather who began the trash talking, shouting at Barnes who spew words back at the champ.
Things got intense while there was a stoppage in play for free throws. Barnes grabbed his groin while directing words at Mayweather, and Mayweather yelled back. “Oh, I’m scared,” Barnes said and grabbed his groin again. Mayweather continued to yell things at Barnes while he was running up and down the court.
Asked about the incident, Barnes said: “I’m trying to talk about basketball. I don’t give a (expletive) about no one off the court.”
Reminded that this happened during the game, Barnes said: “I don’t care. You want to talk about basketball? We talk about basketball. I’m not talking about nobody off the court. We talk about basketball or I’m not talking.”
