The NBA has been trying to get rid of flopping by introducing small fines but that hasn’t stopped these millionaire basketball players from committing them. NBA players flop in part because it is extremely difficult for referees to tell the difference between legitimate contact and an embellishment or fabrication. Then there are others that are so blatantly bad, you can tell right away. Enter P.J, Hairston.
Charlotte Hornets wing P.J. Hairston produced such a play just a few possessions into the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Hairston made some contact with Tony Parker as he hedged to guard San Antonio’s pick and roll, but his reaction may have been just a bit too extreme.
First, there is the delay — he makes contact with Tony Parker, beat, then he just goes flying. With arms flailing. To the ground.
Then he rolls all the way over into Spurs’ coach Gregg Popovich.
Somebody get this man an Oscar….
