Putting a twist on light skinned “vs.” dark skinned politics, Raven-Symone Admits Tanning to be Darker for Her Disney Show and gears up for new documentary. For the negativity we usually hear surrounding “#TeamLightSkin” and “#TeamDarkSkin” these comments definitely show another side of reality.
Raven-Symone Admits Tanning to be Darker for Her Disney Show during an interview for the upcoming documentary by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) entitled “Light Girls,” which is the sequel to “Dark Girls” that came out October 2013. The successful actress of Disney’s “That’s So Raven,” mainstream star who’s a fixture in “The Cosby Show” legacy, has starred on Broadway, is now (and will probably forever be) a go-to meme on the social web, on top of an array of music, movie and television projects under her belt is definitely no stranger to the spotlight.
“When I had my own show, I used to tan three or four times a week in a tanning bed to get darker. I did. It’s funny. One of the lighting guys came up—I love him to death; I love him, oh my goodness—he goes, ‘Raven, I need you to stop tanning. You’re getting too dark, and we have to relight the whole entire show. I was like, ‘Sorry. I was just trying to be pretty.'”
Mmm…clearly “Pretty Hurts” and most times it’s not the case we “woke up like dis” as Raven-Symone Admits Tanning to be Darker for Her Disney Show. She goes on to highlight battles African-American women in the movie business face by sounding off on standards of beauty. It’s definitely telling to hear Raven-Symone Admits Tanning to be Darker for Her Disney Show that we all have more in common than we do different. Furthermore that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Big ups to her for sharing her story.
Will you be tuning into the “Light Girls” premiere or nah?
