Brooklyn Nets head coach Lionel Hollins is not shy or reserved when it comes to ripping his team. He’s been pretty hard on Brook Lopez for being “soft”, Mason Plumlee for his jump shots and others as the team continues to struggle. When asked about the team’s identity, he didn’t sugarcoat it at all.
Brooklyn Nets coach Lionel Hollins doesn’t like what his team has become on the offensive end of the floor.
“We have established an identity: We don’t make shots,” Hollins said prior to Monday night’s game against the Houston Rockets at Barclays Center. “That’s an identity.”
He continued, with a smile: “I don’t know what it is. Maybe I’m the problem. I don’t know. But I don’t shoot them. … I’m sure that behind closed doors — without a microphone on — some players may say I’m the problem, the reason they can’t shoot.”
Since Nov. 12, the Nets rank 22nd in field goal percentage (43.7), 29th in 3-point field-goal percentage (30.8) and 29th in offensive efficiency (97.7 points per 100 possessions).
The Houston Rockets beat the Nets 113-99 bringing their losing streak to six games. The Nets currently have a 16-22 record but still hold the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
