Though LeBron James didn’t go to college, Ohio State considers him an honorary Buckeye and he has always shown support to his home state’s team. Ohio State and Oregon will face off in the first ever College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday. LeBron surprised the team with a little something to help them get game ready.
James who endorses and has investments in Beats by Dre, worked together with the company to supply the Ohio State team with Beats Studio headphones. The headphones retail for $299.95 and if you’re wondering, no they do not violate NCAA gifting rules.

“LeBron helped facilitate the connection with Beats by Dre,” an Ohio State spokesperson told cleveland.com. “The headphones were donated to Ohio State and were distributed within the permissible NCAA limitations on awards.”
Basically it’s cool because LeBron James didn’t buy the headphones and give them to the team, he just helped facilitate the gifting.
Though James went straight from high school to the NBA, he often says he would have gone to Ohio State if the current one-and-done rule had existed then.

As not to show favoritism, Beats also reportedly supplied Oregon with headphones too.
