When the NBA national schedule was revealed some people were really annoyed that the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers have so many national games. Though they are two of the biggest and most profitable teams in the NBA, it was no secret that both of them would be pretty bad this year. ESPN has flexed out several Knicks games but TNT has unfortunately still had to air them and it’s pissing off Inside the NBA host, Charles Barkley.
Charles Barkley threatens to quit work if TNT continues to air Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers games because they’re just so darn bad and he’s not going to take it anymore.
“I’m not coming to work anymore if we show the Knicks or the Lakers for the rest of the season,” he said. “I’m putting my foot down.”
No, he’s not being 100 percent serious and he’s not about to quit his cushy gig at TNT, but this is what makes Chuck so great. He was never afraid to voice his opinion during his Hall of Fame career as a player and he sure as heck has not been shy in voicing it as an analyst.
Quite frankly, the Knicks and Lakers are awful and don’t deserve to be featured on national television based on their 5-35 and 12-25 records and are only televised because they’re in the two largest media markets in the country.
