There’s been a lot of talk about a possible Space Jam sequel starring LeBron James. The NBA superstar has been compared to Michael Jordan his whole career and should this movie happen, the comparisons would only intensify. In fact just considering the movie has opened up the comparisons with many thinking James can’t duplicate the magic Jordan created in Space Jam and a sequel should not be made. One of the stars of the iconic movie agrees with that sentiment as well.
TMZ Sports caught up with Thom Barry who played Michael Jordan’s dad in the movie. He discussed doing a read through for the movie and meeting and speaking with Jordan. Barry said he felt honored to play the part and was greeted with a hug and thanks from Jordan who’s real father had recently passed away.
When asked about Space Jam 2, Barry said he hadn’t heard anything about it but there is no player who could fill Jordan’s shoes. Barry noted that of course Hollywood would try to make it happen, but it shouldn’t happen.
He said no player is as good as Jordan, not LeBron James and not Kobe Bryant. He shares the thoughts of many who think the movie should be left alone.
