Alina Claire Kupchak, the daughter of Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, died Monday morning at 15 years old after a lengthy, unspecified illness, the team announced Monday afternoon.
“The family asks for and appreciates their privacy at this difficult time, and would like to express their gratitude for everyone’s love, support, thoughts and prayers,” the Lakers said in a news release on behalf of Mitch and wife Claire Kupchak.
Mitch Kupchak has led the Lakers’ front office since taking over for Jerry West in 2000. He and Claire also have a son, 18-year-old Maxwell.
