A 2-year-old boy was out shopping with his mother and her three other children in an Idaho Walmart when he was looking through her purse and stumbled across a gun. He was sitting in the child seat in the cart when he accidentally shot the weapon, leaving his 29-year-old mother who has been identified as Veronica Rutledge from Blackfoot, Idaho dead in the store at approximately 10:20 AM in Tuesday morning. Rutledge was not from the area and was just shopping for the holidays, according to authorities. They also added that the victim DID have a warrant for her weapon that sadly led to her death. Both eyewitnesses and surveillance video footage prove that the situation was simply an accident and that the 2-year-old had no intentions of killing his mother. Unfortunately. now he and his siblings will be scarred for life due to the actions that occurred.
Walmart issued a statement saying:
“A very sad incident occurred at our store today involving the death of a female customer. We are fully cooperating with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies as they investigate this matter.” Such a sad situation! Our condolences to their entire family. Such a tragedy.
