When Jets quarterback Geno Smith was at West Virginia, the school changed head coaches after his second season. It looks like Smith’s second professional season will lead to the same result with all signs pointing toward coach Rex Ryan’s run coming to an end shortly after the Jets close out the year against the Dolphins.
There have been plenty of Jets players saying that they don’t want to see Ryan fired, but Smith pointed out that change can be a good thing when asked about his experience dealing with it in college.
“It is all about what you make it,” Smith said, via NJ.com. “I think the toughest part about it is not being able to continue to play for the same coach, the same guy that you learned to love, you invest so much in, and you believe [in] them. To reset and readjust is a tough thing to do, but we are professionals and we have to do it. A change could be good for us all. So if it happens, when it happens, then we will see.”
It looks to me like quarterback change might be good for the Jets as well.
