Rajon Rondo has long denied that he wanted to leave the Boston Celtics even amongst the numerous trade rumors. Well his former teammate Kendrick Perkins says Rondo definitely wanted out.
Rondo continued to publicly reaffirm his commitment to the Celtics despite the fact that he was the only one left from the championship team and they are clearly in rebuilding mode.
His former teammate Kendrick Perkins however expressed how Rondo really felt.
“He wanted out, but he would never say that though,” Perkins told Yahoo Sports….
“Going to nice weather, a contender,” Perkins said. “Hopefully, he will do what he got to do in terms of his contract extension. It’s a great opportunity. I’m happy for him. I’m not happy he is in the West, but I’m happy for him. His time was probably up in Boston. He did his due.
“He was cool, happy. He was excited. He’s going to a contender. He’s 29 [years old] so rebuilding is out of the question now.”
Rajon Rondo is now a part of the Dallas Mavericks and many consider them championship contenders although the Western Conference is notoriously tough. Rondo also joins a conference with many strong point guards that he’ll have to face on a nightly basis. Still despite all that, I’m sure he’s happy to be in Dallas and have his efforts actually mean something.
