As we all know by now, Lil Wayne is at odds with Birdman and Cash Money Records over the long-awaited Tha Carter V. Via Weezy’s Twitter rant a little over a week ago, Birdman and CMR “refuse to release” the album, and he wants “off this label and nothing to do with these people.” He did not elaborate on why exactly he’s at odds with his longtime label, but a later update said that Birdman was “deeply offended” by the statements. He also said he has no plans to release Wayne from his contract, even being willing to go to court if that’s what it takes. He does, however, plan to release Tha Carter V at some point, but says there’s still “lots of administrative work” left to be done before it can drop.

Luckily, that “some point” seems like it can be sooner than later! In an interview with Miami radio station 99 Jamz, Mack Maine said that though he can’t confirm an exact date, he “can just say first quarter, for sure. It’s coming out. Don’t get it twisted like it’s not coming out.” (For those that don’t know, “first quarter” of a year is January through March.)
As for the beef between Wayne and Baby:
“It’s just some business that’s gonna need to be handled. Once that’s handled, we’re going to keep moving. And it’s getting handled as we speak. I feel like this matter will get resolved. Period. If I’m still around it’ll be resolved.”
Oh, and he also revealed that besides C5, Wayne is “about to start another special project for the people.” Since he let the cat out of the bag a tiny bit, I can elaborate a little: the fans will enjoy it…and though it won’t totally make up for the wait, it will be a nice consolation for the moment!
