The longer Ray Allen takes to make a decision, the more teams throw their names into the hat. The Cleveland Cavaliers were the leaders to land the sharpshooter but now he has several options. The Golden State Warriors made the most buzz when they announced they contacted Allen and now there’s another two well-playing Western Conference teams that are interested, the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers
Sports Reporter Jordan Schultz says, “Hearing Ray Allen is taking his time between Golden State, Cleveland, Washington, San Antonio and Chicago. No rush”
The Los Angeles Clippers are also in the hunt. Joining the Clippers gives Allen a chance to reunite with his old Boston Celtics coach, Doc Rivers.
In addition to the Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies are interested as well. Unlike the Clippers and Warriors, the Grizzlies could certainly use the outside shooting and minutes distribution wouldn’t be a problem.
Allen could also just stick with plan A and join his former teammate LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers along with his other Heat squad members, Mike Miller and James Jones. The Cavaliers formed their own Big 3 of James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
Allen isn’t expected to make a decision until January the earliest. He’s reportedly looking to sign with the best championship contender and will have a better idea of the best team by then.
