It’s been expected that Ray Allen will follow some of his former Miami Heat teammates and sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, joining the trio of LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. Allen hasn’t made his decision yet but another very interesting team has joined in on the quest to land the sharpshooter. Apparently the Golden State Warriors reach out to Ray Allen to see his interest.
via ESPN:
Warriors general manager Bob Myers said during an interview on 95.7 The Game that Allen’s agent had been contacted to gauge his interest.
“We threw our team out there at his representation, and I think they’re vetting what they want to do,” Myers said. “Obviously you’ve got to look at a guy like that. He’s a smart enough guy. He’s going to look around the league to see what’s best for him.”
Adding the league’s all-time leader in three-pointers, to a team that has the “Splash Brothers” would be incredible. It’s not just Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson however, the Warriors are stacked in the backcourt with Shaun Livingston, Andre Iguodala and Leandro Barbosa as well. Minutes distribution could be a problem as well as chemistry which Myers also pointed out.
In addition to the Warriors and Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers have all expressed interest in Allen too.
Allen isn’t expected to make a decision until February when he can better see which team is the best contender for the championship.
