Great news for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, not only was he released from the hospital today but he also won’t be charged with any crimes after Tuesday’s crazy car accident.

According to the Carolina Panthers, Newton “has soreness but is in good spirits. He’s excited to be discharged and begin recuperating with family.”

The Charlotte PD says Cam did nothing wrong when it comes to the accident and he will not be charged.

According to ProFootballTalk:

The driver of the other vehicle said he didn’t see Newton’s vehicle, tried to swerve to miss it but collided into it. Two witnesses also told police that they saw the other driver pull in front of Newton. There is no indication that Newton was speeding or driving dangerously.

Neither driver has been ticketed.

Newton suffered two transverse fractures in his lower back and it’s still uncertain how long he will be out with only three games remaining in the season.

Newton was however named NFC Offensive Player of the Week today.  He completed 21 of 33 passes for 226 yards, three touchdowns, and no picks.  He added 83 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Panthers 41-10 win over the division rival Saints on Sunday.
