After basically sticking with Brian Hoyer throughout his struggles this season, the Browns are giving Johnny Manziel the starting role for next game. Hit the jump for details.

Via Stunna Life:

The Johnny Manziel era in Cleveland is officially underway.

The Browns announced today that Johnny will be the starting quarterback for the team this Sunday in a very important game against division rival Cincinnati.

Browns coach Mike Pettine indicated that he was leaning toward a quarterback change during his press conference Monday, one day after Brian Hoyer struggled in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

The Browns for their part have given Hoyer every opportunity to keep the job and be the franchise quarterback despite all the media attention Manziel gets, but Hoyer has pretty much failed.

It is crazy to say he failed when the Browns haven’t had a record this good this late in the season in years, but Hoyer really has not done anything, especially over the past month.

Hoyer has orchestrated just one touchdown drive in his last 29 series, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Hoyer played well to start the year and led the Browns to a 7-4 record but has struggled mightily the last five games.

This move is also Hoyer’s one way ticket out of town after the season.
