The Tyga vs. YMCMB beef isn’t stopping any time soon. Let’s recap the situation thus far: Tyga signed to Young Money in 2008 and went on to have a successful career with Lil Wayne and co., particularly after his 2011 hit, “Rack City.” Everything seemed harmonious in the crew, as they often came together for collabs on compilation albums like We Are Young Money and Rich Gang, but all that came to a grinding halt about 2 months ago.
Frustrated that his label had yet to give him a release date on his oft-delayed The Gold Album, Tyga took to Twitter and aired out all of his dirty laundry, revealing he wants OFF YMCMB for good. He later elaborated in an interview with VIBE Magazine, explaining that he feels he’d outgrown the label and most of the people on it (like Nicki Minaj and Drake,) and sticking around just for Wayne just wasn’t conducive to a successful career.
Birdman later appeared on Funk Flex’s show on Hot 97, basically saying that he thinks Tyga is just going through a little something, but that he’ll remain on the label. It seemed that all was well from there too, because Tyga shortly after tweeted a release date for the album.
BUT! Just when you thought the beef had cooled down, things got even crazier. As you know, Lil Wayne took to his own Twitter to do the very same thing Tyga did just the other day, and Tyga eventually jumped in to praise Weezy, and reveal that The Gold Album would now be dropping independently in 2015…meaning, no YMCMB behind it. He then stopped by Power 106 in L.A. to perform at their annual Christmas concert on Friday, and elaborated on the situation further. Check out what he had to say below!
