Philadelphia rapper Beanie Sigel, real name Dwight Grant has been reportedly shot in front of a Pleasantville, NJ home early this morning.

The shooting had taken place around 9:45 a.m. along the 800 block of Spruce Avenue according to NBC10.

Sigel, who was originally thought to be shot in the stomach, was actually shot in the back and rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he is currently undergoing surgery. According to reports, the wound had gone through his abdomen and out of his back, but this may be the reverse. Pleasantville police chief Jose Ruiz says that injuries maybe, “serious.”

According to NBC10:

Fortunato Perri, Jr., Sigel’s attorney and Sigel had just returned home from dropping his kids off at school when he came upon some sort of physical altercation near his house.

At the time of the shooting, the “Feel It In The Air” rapper was wearing an ankle bracelet stemming from his federal prison release in August. Sigel had come home after doing a two-year bid for tax evasion, owing the IRS .

Pleasantville Police Chief Jose Ruiz Released a Statement:

“All I can confirm at this time is that Mr. Dwight Grant was shot this morning after an altercation on Spruce Avenue.”
