The Baltimore Ravens have gone through a lot this season.  In addition to the Ray Rice fiasco and dealing with key injuries, now they lose a player due to a drug violation.  The NFL has announced that defensive lineman Haloti Ngata will miss the rest of the regular season due to a violation of the PED policy.

Haloti Ngata suspended for four games, so basically the rest of the season due to Adderall usage.  “I made a mistake, and I own this,” Ngata said in a statement issued by the Ravens.  “I took Adderall and take full responsibility for doing this.  I am deeply sorry and broken up over this.  I let down my family, my teammates, Ravens fans and myself.  My hope is that the Ravens make the playoffs, and I believe they can do this.  And, then I can come back and help us win.”

If it’s true that Ngata tested positive for Adderall, it means that the violation occurred during the 2014 regular season.  The new PED policy moved Adderall to the substance-abuse policy during the offseason.

“This is disappointing news for the Ravens,” G.M. Ozzie Newsome said of the four-game suspension.  “We are disappointed with Haloti, but no more than he is with himself.”

The Ravens undoubtedly knew this was coming.  While the pending suspension hadn’t been announced, the team and the player know about it before it becomes finalized.
