Charles Barkley says whatever he’s thinking and DeMarcus Cousins has a volatile temper, put the two together and clearly there will be problems. On Inside the NBA Barkley was asked about his criticism of DeMarcus Cousins which hasn’t sat well with the King’s center who recently said he has “no respect” for Barkley. Barkley explained his feelings towards Cousins that he was just doing his job and ended it with a “he can’t whoop my ass” and “there will be some furniture moving if he ever puts his hands on me.” Shaq, who is a part owner of the Kings and a big supporter of Cousins, didn’t find Barkley’s comments amusing.
Barkley went to watch Cousins play in high school and noted that he was disappointed because Cousins complained to referees incessantly, fouled out and picked up a couple of technical fouls in the process. Barkley also noted that he made a conscious effort not to be too hard on Cousins and said he could be the best big man in the game if he grew up.
Cousins notes that Barkley could’ve endangered his chance at success because of his comments. Cousins insists Barkley said much more and when asked he responded as if Barkley was standing right in front of him. “I have no respect for you and I never will. We have nothing to talk about. So, yes, every time we see each other, there will never be words,” Cousins said.
Barkley clearly didn’t take too kindly to Cousins words and addressed the issue on Inside the NBA.
