Of course it’s great being LeBron’s James kid, you’re already rich and famous from the time you come out of Savannah’s womb. But it’s not all rainbows and sprinkles, there is a drawback and it’s an important one as pointed out by “Chappelle’s Show” star and comedian, Donnell Rawlings.
TMZ Sports caught up with Rawlings and he explained LeBron’s issue. It’s called “I’m the S**t Syndrome”, Rawlings says LeBron is super concerned over whether his children will be able to compete on his level in the sports world.
Essentially, Rawlings says LeBron is putting pressure on himself to make sure his kids are just as dominant as he is and he points out that Michael Jordan’s kids went through the same thing.
I think it’s a very accurate explanation, just not the reason LeBron won’t let his kids play football. If this explanation were correct for LeBron then he wouldn’t let his sons play basketball. That’s the sport he dominates and that’s the sport his sons will always have to deal with comparisons to him. Luckily it looks like they’re very good, from what I’ve seen so far. I think he keeps them out of football because it’s very dangerous. There are football players themselves who say they won’t let their kids play the sport too, for example Adrian Peterson.
There’s new safety protocols being implemented all the way down to the Pop Warner youth football league. It’ll never be fully safe, there’s always the danger of a serious injury but hopefully it’ll be safe enough that if they really want to play, LeBron will allow it.
