Havard students had a chance to turn back the clock and see what early black voters had to go through. A Harvard tutor gave the exam to her students to see how they would fair. Not even the young intelligent minds could decipher the test.
The 1964 Lousianna Literacy test was a test that was designed to discourage and detour black voters from hitting the polls. Carl Miller, the tutor who gave out the test explained he wanted the students to see how unjust the process use to be while showing them the importance voting themselves. This ridiculous test included questions like ” print the word vote upside down but in the right order”. Miller explains the test was made to fail and Louisiana was no the only state trying to bar blacks from voting, these tests could have been found all over the south.
