What does Justin Bieber’s mentor think about him? Nothing but positive things of course. Usher sits down with MTV News and talks about his prodigy and what he believes Bieber is still capable of.

Usher, who’s currently on his UR Experience World Tour, talks to MTV News and speaks on Justin Bieber getting back to his roots, and encourages him to explore things outside of just singing. Usher also addresses Justin’s retirement stint.

“I don’t know that I could say that he’s going to retire. I would most certainly not invest in any of that,” Usher told MTV News last week. “So don’t hold me being a part of that, especially being the person that has mentored him and being a positive support and light for him.”

“I think that there is so much left for him to do as a musician; not just as an artist but as a musician,” Usher said. ” ‘Cause when I found him, he had a guitar in his hand — I want to see that.”

“I think his imagination being locked through instruments is an incredible thing that hasn’t been unlocked yet,” he said. “Every time I’m with him I’m like, ‘Man, wheres your guitar? Let’s get on the drums.’ I even start playing the drums myself, just to further support like, ‘OK, not only am I asking you to pick up instruments, I’m playing them too.’ ”
