The Arizona Cardinals fears have been confirmed and their starting quarterback Carson Palmer has a torn ACL. He’s been put on season-ending injured reserve. It feels like deja vu because just like the last time, the torn ACL comes days after he signed a big contract.
On December 29, 2005, Palmer signed a $119 million deal with the Bengals and tore his ACL ten days later. This time he signed a three-year, $50 million contract extension ($20 million guaranteed) with the Cardinals and tore his ACL just two days later. On both occasions the tear was in Palmers left knee.
For now the Cardinals are going with Drew Stanton at quarterback. It’s unclear who they will sign in addition. The Cardinals are currently 8-1 at the top of the NFC West division and the best record in the whole league.
