Former NBA player, Dennis Rodman was recently in the news for his taboo and controversial trip to North Korea. In light of his recent visit an imprisoned American (Kenneth Bae) was released and now headed back home to America.
Rodman has recently told TMZ that after returning home from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea he wrote a letter to North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un begging him for the release of Kenneth Bae.
Here are some excerpts from the letter:
“I understand the crimes [Bae] committed, and ask you my dear friend, the highly respected Marshall Kim Jong Un for his release to show my country how loving and compassionate you and the DPRK can be.”
“I ask for your mercy to prisoner Kenneth Bae and would be eternally grateful for his safe return and make a big step towards bridging the gap between our two nations.”
After the North Korean Government contacted U.S. officials out of the blue saying they’d discuss Bae’s release ( After being held in prision for 2 years and 7 months… Bae is now on his way home.
Although Rodman never heard back from Un after he sent the letter, the North Korean government shortly after released a video showing that Bae was still alive. Rodman does not believe that this was a coincidence
Dennis tells TMZ, “No doubt, our trips helped influence Kenneth Bae’s release and I’m happy he is coming home safely.”
What do you guys think should Rodman start working for the United Nations as an ambassador for the U.S. now. I commend his efforts to free a man that’s dope.
