Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov went all out on the Brooklyn Nets last season as he attempted to win the championship title. Unfortunately the Nets fell short and lost in the Eastern Conference semi-finals to the Miami Heat. In the process Prokhorov set an NBA record by spending $144 million including the luxury tax for going over the cap. So what did he have to say about that? He answered in true boss mode.
via ESPN:
Grantland.com reported that the Nets lost $144 million over the 2013-14 season in basketball operating costs. Prokhorov shrugged off the fact that the Nets lost $131 million more than the next highest team.
“It’s not a big deal,” Prokhorov said when asked about the $144 million figure. “Because I personally compensate this money from my pocket.”
$144 million is pocket money!
