Arnold Abbott, a 90 year old man who proudly claims to be a man of God is currently facing charges for feeding the homeless. Abbott was arrested along with two pastors In Ft. Lauderdale in violation of a new law which bans “public food sharing”.
Leave it up to Florida to ban meals for the homeless. Arnold Abbott is a man of God who simply is trying to help people in need. Abbott has been helping feed the homeless in Ft.Lauderdale since 1991 with his nonprofit group “Love Thy Neighbor” and says authorities are targeting the city’s most vulnerable residents. This new law that the city is enforcing forbids “public food sharing”. Abbot stated ” The whole thing was designed to rid Ft.Lauderdale of its homless”. Surprisingly this is not the first time Arnold Abbott has dealt with the authorities when helping the homless. CNN reports in 1999 Abbot sued the city for banning him to serve meals to the homeles on the beach, a case in which he won! Abbot went on to say the charges wont stop him from doing it again. Hopefully people will rally around Abbott and help him continue to fight the good fight. Its sad to see what the world has turned into, when helping others is considered a crime.
