Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports continues to add some serious heavyweights to their roster. The latest is Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Dez Bryant.
Unlike some of the other athletes who are using Roc Nation to help with marketing and endorsements, Bryant has hired them to negotiate his next contract. He’s in the last year of his contract with the Cowboys and is certainly looking to get paid as he is one of the best wide receivers in the league.
Roc Nation’s first big test was with All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano. With Jay Z, a native New Yorker, many thought he would negotiate a deal to keep Cano with the New York Yankees. Unfortunately they weren’t willing to give Cano as many years and as much money as he wanted. Cano ended up signing with the Seattle Mariners on a $240 million, 10-year contract.
It’s the fourth largest contract in major league history and ended thoughts that signing with Roc Nation would be a failure.
It’ll be interesting to see what they get Dez Bryant.
