Pierce is known for his fierce competitive streak. Some of the best rivalries of this era have included him! In a recent interview, the
NBA veteran and new Washington Wizard touched on a variety of topics including his feelings about this era of basketball. Hit the jump for details.

Via For the Win:

This is a different era. Guys are playing a lot more together in the summer. You see more friendships in the league. It’s not like in the 80s when you had enemies, or you couldn’t stand this guy, and there were fights all the time. These guys, they all get along. It’s a new generation. They all want to play with each other, they all want to win. They’re in USA Basketball all summer, they play in the summer leagues all summer, so they get to know one another and they try to join one another and try to win a championship. It’s a new era that we’re seeing and this is the way it’s going to be, guys, we’ve just gotta accept it.”
But he doesn’t seem to be that friendly with many opposing players, like LeBron James, ESPN’s Cris Carter pointed out.

“I still can’t stand none of these guys. I want to beat all of them.”
Pierce also spoke about leaving the Celtics:

“It’s tough but you got to understand it’s part of the business. I still feel like I have a lot of basketball left in me, and the Celtics were going in a different direction. I just wanted to try to get myself in a position to try to win another championship before it’s all said and done.”
