Taylor Swift, 24 is named the 2014 Billboard Woman of the Year. Just last month, Swift who is a seven-time Grammy winner, earned a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her song “Shake It Off.” She is the first artist to win the honor more than once. Read more on the story after the jump!
Swift is gearing up to release her fifth album titled, “1989” on Oct. 27th. Swift won the award in 2011 as well. Past winners of Billboard Woman of the Year are Pink, Beyonce and Katy Perry. Janice Min, co-president of Billboard magazine’s owner, Guggenheim Media, stated “as one of the most influential artists of her generation, Taylor Swift has seen incredible success on the Billboard charts.”
Taylor Swift’s albums have sold more than 4 million copies in the United States and her last four albums topped the U.S album chart. According to Billboard Swift is the best selling digital music artist of all time. She will receive her honor in December in New York at Billboard’s annual Women in Music event.
