With the NBA’s new TV deal worth $24 billion and the subsequent rise in the salary cap, Kevin Durant suggested they should get rid of max contracts in the new CBA.  Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban countered that argument saying if they get rid of max contracts then players have to give up guaranteed contracts as well.  Kevin Durant is apparently not fond of that idea.

“I don’t think that makes sense,” Durant said Friday. “Give up guarantees? Nah, I don’t think so. Why? Why would we do that? Just because we asked for … I’m not going to talk about this, man.”

Durant said he had a lot to say on the subject, but said it wasn’t the appropriate time for him to express those thoughts publicly.

I’m sure the other players share Durant’s sentiment and there’s no way they will give up guaranteed contracts during the next CBA negotiations.  Mark Cuban is just a business man who won’t give up something without asking for something else in return.
