Fashion designers not only look to hip-hop for inspiration, they rely on these artist to lend to their brands credibility. Rappers’ have even shaped their identities through fashion by how they rep that brand on their lyrics. So, what is the most mentioned fashion brand in hip-hop? Find out after the jump.
The people at PicClick decided to take a deeper look at the relationship between hip-hop and fashion with an excellent idea by analyzing lyrics to find which brands have the biggest clout.
The most mentioned brand in hip-hop history is… Gucci! Followed by Nike, Prada, Versace, and Chanel.
And the top three rappers to name drop Gucci in their lyrics through the years are Nas, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. Believe it or not, Gucci Mane is one of the top three rappers to name drop Nike in their lyrics.
PicClick also compiled a list of the Top 10 Name Dropping Artist, with Lil Kim topping the list at #1. Queen Bee lead the list with over 35 mentions in her entire musical career.
