I’ve been waiting for today since news about the single, “I” broke. It’s here and now Kendrick is making his media stops with the first being Big Boy’s Neighborhood. The TDE artist talks Chris Brown’s “Autumn Leaves,” his relationship with Dr. Dre and the new single.

“I was in the neighborhood [Compton]…The reason why we have so much turmoil in the city is from lack of self love,” Kendrick says about the new single. “If we don’t have self love so how can we love the next person? It starts from within and that’s why we carry ourselves the way we do.” (Hand clap).

On Creating His Music:

“I got 7 songs I like that I’ve been working on and maybe 30 I don’t, says Kendrick. “I record a bunch of ideas and I sit and live with them until I feel like they have a potential to be a 10.”

On His Relationship with Dr. Dre:

“When Dre called me, I was in shock. I thought they were lying. Dre sits back and lets me do my thing and he respects my talent and ideas. He’s someone I can always go to for advice. He’s a mentor.”
