Kanye takes his craft very seriously and he’ll make sure you never forget it. At the Made In America Festival in Philadelphia, Yeezy took to the stage to perform and educate the crowd a little bit, as usual.
West stopped the performance to set everyone straight on how the media portrays him, his music, and his family.
West said, “They want tot make a joke out of how hard we work,” in regards to Jay Pharoah’s impersonation of him during the MTV Video Music Awards. “It’s fine and all funny and everything, but don’t distract from our vision. It’s not a joke what we do up here. This music that we do is not a joke. What we do culturally is not a joke.”
“I know everybody’s doing their job,” West says of the media. Kanye then disclosed that he called Jay Pharoah after the MTV VMAs to tell SNL cast member about his impersonation of him during the awards show. “I said, ‘I appreciate your show, but let me tell you about my story. Let me tell you about what I went through to get to that position.”
