Vick has been the subject of many controversies throughout his career mixed with being one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league throughout the years. Today Vick, who currently plays for the NY Jets, discussed he’s defining career moment. Hit the jump for details.

New York Jets quarterback Mike Vick was one of Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper’s most vocal supporters last year after Cooper was caught on video using a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert. Vick publicly forgave Cooper the day after the video surfaced.

“Him being my brother, knowing him for so long, it’s hard to defend him saying that. At the same, time, it happened. We talked about it man to man, one on one. We just know that we have to some way move on. It’s a very delicate situation. But we all understand. Somehow we all have to find a way to get past it.”
Cooper would go on to have a stellar season with the Eagles under new coach Chip Kelly, and Vick told ESPN that standing up for Cooper was the “best thing I’ve done as a professional athlete.” Vick also said there’s something about the incident that still bothers him.

Via ESPN:

“I just hope he’s [appreciative] of my boldness to step out in front of the world and say what I said, and he appreciates what I did and understands the magnitude of it, because nobody else was going to step up and say anything…. A couple of things transpired since [the incident] that I dislike, and I’ll be honest with you,” Vick said. “After he signed his contract, I sent him a text and I never got a text back, and that made me feel a certain type of way. But I’m not the type of guy who holds grudges.”
Vick and the Jets will play Cooper’s Eagles in their final preseason game Thursday night.
