As the date for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards looms closer, today it has been announced who the recipient of the the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award will be. Find out who below the jump.

With today’s current crop of artist, only a select few can truly say they might qualify for the award and it comes as no surprise that this year’s honoree is none other than Beyoncé. Bey joins acts such as Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and more who have received the award. This will no doubt be a major night for the songstress as she leads all artists with eight nominations and will also be performing at the event. The show will be held live at Inglewood, California on August 24th 9pm est.
