Considering the events surrounding the Malaysian flight that was shot down over Ukraine, the last thing you’d expect is for people to steal the identities of the victims. But, unfortunately, that’s exactly what began to happen. While families have to emotionally deal with the loss of their loved ones, they also have to cancel all financial accounts in the names of the deceased due to people abusing their credit cards. According to Daily News, if the credit cards were taken from any victim’s wallet at the crash site, it coincides with reports of looting in the days following the crash as luggage and bodies sat in fields for several days in the scorching heat, attracting flies. They have since been removed and taken to the Netherlands.
