GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS VS MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

The Minnesota Timberwolves talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly heating up as the Cavs are now reportedly willing to part with No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins.  Still that might not be enough as other reports claim the Timberwolves want more than Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a future draft pick.  There’s also reports that they prefer Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors over Wiggins.  Talks between the Timberwolves and Warriors stalled because of the Warriors unwillingness to part with Thompson but will that change?

The only thing that actually matters is what the Timberwolves think, and on Friday we may have gained a little insight.

According to Joe Kotoch of Pro Basketball Draft and SheridanHoops.com, a source tells him that if the Warriors are willing to include Thompson it will trump the Cavs offer of Wiggins. “Wolves prefer Klay (because he’s) more ready per source,” Kotoch tweeted.

This rumor is unconfirmed, and with rumors fluctuating widely on whether the Warriors and Cavs are even willing to include Thompson and Wiggins, we may not know how much truth there is to this until a deal is actually made and the details come out.

One potential advantage Minnesota would have if it goes with the Warriors offer is that the team would have a good chance to be competitive, and possibly playoff-bound, in the near future. However, it’s questionable whether the team could resign Thompson long-term and there’s also the chance that Wiggins turns into Tracy McGrady and becomes a star over the next decade.
