All J. Cole fans know that on his way to the top, Cole did just about everything to get noticed. Now we can add crashing LA Reid’s son, Aaron Reid’s 16th birthday party which we saw on MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16” to that list. But he chose a very specific outfit with a shirt that read a pretty strong message. Find out what that message was after the jump!
Cole recently stopped by Rap Fix to chat with MTV’s Sway Calloway in honor of The Warm Up‘s 5-year anniversary. In that conversation, Sway asked Jermaine about being spotted on MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16” and he had this to say:
“Me, an aspiring rapper and producer, the lightbulb went up,” Cole told Sway. “I was like, ‘Say no more. I’m there.’ I had just got this shirt made that said ‘Produce For Jay Z Or Die Tryin’… I knew one day, I would be somewhere where Jay Z was and I would have this shirt on.”
Cole admitted that he didn’t know Aaron or his father but saw the party as an opportunity to possibly meet one of the many celebrity guests who were supposed to be there including Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West and Swizz Beatz.
Check out some of the footage of Cole at the party below!
