So earlier in the week, reports swarmed the web that Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey, FKA as Mos Def canceled North America tour dates after being denied entry back into the states. The confusion was further confounded when Together Boston Music Festival, which Bey was suppose to headline issued a statement that indeed the rapper was struggling with immigration issues. An associate of Bey’s addresses the rumors inside!
According to the associate the reports are a complete lie, and Mos Def is happily residing in South Africa working on additional projects. Reported friend of the rapper, Abdi Hussein speaks with South-Africa based, The Times, on Yasiin Bey’s reported immigration issues.
“The alleged friend, Abdi Hussein, spoke to the Johannesburg, South Africa-based The Times about Yasiin’s reported predicament. Hussein says the New York City lyricist was never denied entry into the U.S. and instead “moved the dates” for his tour due to other projects he was working on.
“[Mos Def] has never attempted to enter any country and been refused. It’s a complete lie,” Hussein said while speaking to The Times. “In fact, if there was anything criminal against you, they would invite you back so they could lock you up.”
Well that should make Hip Hop fans happy. There you have it. Mos Def jumped shipped here in the states, and is in South Africa by his own free will. You ready to hear new work from the rapper on his arrival back?
