It was an emotional moment yesterday when Michael Sam made history and became the first openly gay man in the NFL. His historic moment was followed by another one.
ESPN cameras surrounded Michael as he got the call from the St. Louis Ram. He was extremely emotional, breaking down in tears as his boyfriend consoled him. He later rose up, faced his boyfriend and kissed him on national TV.
The moment sent the social media world into a frenzy with many rejoicing about Sam’s triumph while others were disgusted and unwilling to accept it. Either way it was big and probably won’t be the last.
“Thank you to the St. Louis Rams and the whole city of St. Louis,” Sam tweeted afterward. “I’m using every [ounce] of this to achieve greatness!!”
