A Father and Son duo, who made their income allegedly scamming school districts with their “tutoring” company, did not come with stacks of bills ready for bail… But a bag filled with jewels!
Jowhar Soultanali, 58, and son Kabir Kassam, 34, posted bail Wednesday, at the U.S District Court, with a pile of jewelry including rubies, diamonds, gold and more worth the amount of $500,000, each.
The two corrupted men were accused in a $33 million tutoring scam, where they ran a fake tutoring business titled
‘Chicago Brilliance Academy Inc. and Babbage Net School Inc.’ tutoring companies, federal prosecutors say the men made a massive payday by bilking school districts in 19 different states out of millions.”
if convicted the two can face up to 20 years in jail, and a $250,000 fine per mail count.
